I wrote and recorded this track because I felt like I owed it to him [Guru]. If it weren't for Gang Starr, King [Koopa] and I would probably have never gotten into the Hip Hop that we love practicing today. I remember when I first saw the video for "Rite Where U Stand" that I had to get this album! Because of that song, Gang Starr introduced me to a new sound, Underground Hip Hop. Them being from the old school/golden era of Hip Hop also introduced me to Old School Hip Hop so I am very thankful for them. I was very sad and hurt when I heard the unfortunate news of Guru's passing because I always dreamed of seeing a live Gang Starr show but I am grateful to have been presented with the great music that he gave to his many fans. On behalf of the Planet Ox fam, Guru, you will be truly missed.
